This article explains specifically what each step does in an interactive ripple and how to use them.

An interactive Ripple is a process that requires the users involved to perform specific actions within the system in order for the Ripple to continue and be successfully completed. These actions can be a variety of things from marking a check-box to watching a video or even more detailed actions such as completing a specific logbook/online form e.g. induction checklist from within their profile.

Use a combination of video/audio steps, checklists, question steps (and many more) to create an interactive process for an employee to follow and complete directly through their dashboard - and track their progress!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--Add Logbook--

What does it do?
This step allows you to select a specific logbook that you wish for the employee to fill out. For example, if you need the employee to fill out their Driving License details, you can prompt them to complete this logbook within their interactive ripple.

How do I set it up?
Once selecting this option, you'll be presented with all logbooks marked 'In Use'. Simply select the logbook you wish the employee to complete. You can also create your own Logbooks, so if there's any other information you need from the employee, you can build a new logbook screen first, and then add this into your interactive ripple.

Remember, there may be specific access set to a logbook - if a ripple is launched to an employee who does not have access to the logbook selected, they will not be able to complete this.

Example of what this step may look like for an employee:

--Audio--

What does it do?
Adding an audio step gives you the ability to present the employee with something to listen to, whether it's a pre recorded welcome message from the whole company, or an induction walkthrough of your first day.

How do I set it up?
Add either an audio file from your computer, or an audio link during the creation of this step and give a description of what this is. The employee will be presented with a play button within their interactive ripple so that they can start/pause this audio clip.

Supported files?
Audio clips must be maximum of 30MB.

If you're adding an Audio via a link, here are the supported types:

  • MP3 -- audio/mpeg

  • OGG -- audio/ogg

  • WAV -- audio/wav

If adding an Audio clip as a file, this must be MP3.

Example of what this step may look like for an employee:

--Checklist--

What does it do?
This step will simply show as a tick box that the employee will have to check once completing the task stated. A checklist step can be used on its own, or gathered within a number of checklist steps to create a To-Do list for the employee.

How do I set it up?
Add a description such as 'Read Company Handbook' or 'Return Company Uniform' and the employee will mark once actioned.

--Document Upload--

What does it do?
This step prompts an employee to upload a document to their record. You have the option to select whether this is a standard document, a Right To Work document, or a Background check.

How do I set it up?
Once selecting this step, select which document type you wish this to be and add a description for the employee to follow. If you've selected Right To Work or Background Check, employees can also fill additional information related to this document.

Example of what this step may look like for an employee:

--E-signature--

What does it do?
This allows the employee to add an electronic signature. You can add this at any stage of an interactive ripple, but most likely at the end of a ripple to sign this off.

How do I set it up?
Add a description and any accompanying notes for the employee to be presented when signing. Once signed, a time/date stamp and the employee's IP address will be logged upon signing.

Example of what this step may look like for an employee:

--Question--

What does it do?
Here you can create a question that an employee can answer during their interactive ripple. You can add as many answers you like here, although the employee will only be able to select one. You can add certain rules here, so that if a specific answer is selected, the next few steps of a ripple can be skipped.

Example: 'Do you want to hear about our buddy scheme', and if selected no, the buddy scheme video step will disappear, and the employee will move automatically move onto the step after that.

How do I set it up?
Firstly, type your question. Then you can click on the preloaded question choices and edit the answers, as well as adding more options.

You can then either keep as 'Do not skip', leaving this as a simple Question/Answer step, or select 'Skip Upto'  - this is where you can specify the step an employee can skip to, based on their answer selection. If you have not built the next few steps of your ripple yet, simply save this step as it is, build the rest of your ripple and then go back to define where to skip to.

Example of what this step may look like for an employee:

--Section Heading--

What does it do?
This text will be shown in Bold, you may wish to use this as a header to parts of the interactive ripple, a welcome message, or use as a disclaimer at the bottom.

How do I set it up?
All you need to do for this step is remove the title 'Section Heading' and replace with the text you wish the employee to be shown.

Example of what this step may look like for an employee:

--Video--

What does it do?
Adding and video step gives you the ability to present the employee with something to watch, whether it's a pre recorded welcome message from the whole company, or some induction training.

How do I set it up?
Add either a video file from your computer, or a video link during the creation of this step and give a description of what this is. The employee will be presented with a play button within their interactive ripple so that they can start/pause this clip.

Supported files?
Video clips must be maximum of 30MB.

If you're adding an Video via a link, here are the supported types:

  • MP4 -- video/mp4

  • WebM -- video/webm

  • Ogg -- video/ogg

If adding a Video clip as a file, this must be MP4.
